utrophia

This is an email DnA recieved from the lovely Stephen Molyneux at Utrophia...

Great this sounds cool.
Here's a little thing that we have in the intro of our company profile.

initiated in 2002, the utrophia project has maintained and evolved a flourishing arts network facilitating national and international artists via the provision of consistent and integral platforming. from the outset a core objective of the utrophia project has been to curate events within contextualised environments conducive to opening up inclusive communication within contemporary arts and the understanding of contemporary arts.

throughout the last few years utrophia has attracted the aid and involvement of artists from many varied disciplines. it has evolved from an early ambitious program of audio and visual events, to the incorporation of public performance, dance and theatre as well as the curation of annual summer festivals. it has maintained a project space, providing affordable studios for the realisation of a multitude of varied practices encouraging an integration of audio, visual, installation and performance based disciplines. it has been involved with arts institutions such as resonance fm, deptford x, made in deptford festival, the spitz, whitechapel art gallery, temporary contemporary, architecture week and brighton university (to name a few) in a multitude of varied initiatives, attracting media attention from around the world. this varied program of projects explores and aids the continuation of contemporary communication within the arts and the responsibilities of its role within present day society.

and hey, we have an exhibition coming up which it'd be great if you guys could make it down.

the private views on the friday from 6.07 onwards and here are the details

'Eggs' by Rob Bidder:
'My desires are a couple of ten foot baby bottles, a gilded maple branch, a green Woodpecker with a collapsable beak that turns into a piano, a picnic table with a re-print of a warhol nipple conduit and a walnut whip.x' (Rob's requirements for private view)

Utrophia Art Network is proud to present a series of paintings and films by Rob Bidder (Fine Art, Goldsmiths). The show follows on from Utrophia's 'Egg Festival' (which Rob co-curated), held at Deptford Properly Cafe and the new Utrophia Project Space. We thought that the paintings were so good that they should stay up longer and more people should see them. They are meticulously painted eggs which hover within various backdrops like mythical creatures. With arrays of strong, bold block colours which delight and mesmerize, the eggs take on a kind of magic and wizardry, which give the egg a somewhat awesome presence. The work will be accompanied with other elements from the Egg Festival, which we will leave as a surprise.

A film by Rigsby Smith, documenting the Egg Festival will be shown alongside Rob's work, to give an insight into the context in which they were originally shown.
3rd - 13th of April; Private View 4th April; 6.07 pm onwards.
