So, Borthwick Quay Property Developers The rich get rich, the poor get telly and artists get moved on. Is that the way it seems to you? APT, they're all right aren't they - had the foresight to buy their building long ago so they'll be the only ones left when the creek is lined with 'luxury' flats (funny how they don't build ordinary flats any more isn't it?). Where do we go next? Woolwich? How long before the studio fringe reaches Sheerness? Whinge, whinge But… Have you seen Borthwick Quay, from the river? It's an amazing building. When it's done up (2 years time apparently) it will command that whole stretch of the river. And wouldn't it be a great place for an art venue? Like the Guggenheim in Venice. And the developers (Paines & Borthwick) do say they want to support the arts in the area. They've hired a couple of agencies to help them do it and they've started with their online showcase. It may be small at the moment but what if they mean it? - wouldn't it be better to be part of it now, since it's going to happen anyway? It's that old chaos theory thing - the butterfly flaps its wings in South America and unleashes a hurricane in Japan. Actually that's all you have to do - make the smallest move and the world changes. Make the right move and it changes for the better. Just don't ask nothing. |
